This position reports to and collaborates closely with the Executive Director. The individual works to maintain and continue to create an innovative, therapeutic child care program for children who have experienced family violence and/or trauma. They are required to provide leadership and program management for the Sonshine Children’s Centre and work closely with the Children’s Services team. They will have a thorough understanding of family violence, as well as the systems needed to provide excellent care to children and their families who have experienced this. In addition, they apply their skills related to counselling theory and practice.
Sonshine Community Services is looking for a skilled Principal Director, Programs and Operations to ensure the organization’s programs and services meet client needs and the organizations mission and vision. The Principal Director, Programs and Operations will have strong management skills and a thorough understanding of the dynamics and impacts of family violence, the importance of quality care of children, the systems needed to provide excellent care to vulnerable women and children, and trauma informed counseling theory and practice. Principal Director, Programs and Operations will report directly to Executive Director and may assume the responsibilities of the Executive Director in her absence.
This position reports to the Director of Children’s Services and works closely with the Child Services team in an innovative, therapeutic child care program for children who have experienced family violence and/or trauma. The successful candidate will be planning, organizing, promoting and delivering Summer Recreation Programming/Activities to children and parents in an atmosphere that is fast-paced, creative, collegial, dynamic and collaborative trauma informed. This program will be structured to meet the needs of typically developing children as well as children who have been impacted by trauma.
You must currently be registered in a post-secondary education institution (i.e. – University or College) or be enrolled in High School to apply for this position.
This is an 18 month, half-time position (17.5 hours) to implement the programs at Sonshine Centre, including provision of counseling and support from a Christian perspective to the women and women and children at Sonshine Centre. The candidate will also provide follow-up with clients exiting the residential component of the program. This position requires an individual with strong counseling, interpersonal skills, initiative and personal management skills.
